MG Remission

The only good part about MG is that your dog can go into spontaneous remission without any warning. A number of studies have the number at about 90%. My Vet believes it is much closer to 50%, but nobody really knows.

Remission normally occurs between 6 and 18 months after diagnosis.

For us, the earliest we can hope for is May of 2010.

  1. How do you know when your dog goes into remission? My 9 year old GSD was diagnosed with MG, ME and AP in April 2009. Knowing that a lot of dogs go into remission after 6 months or so, we took her off of the Pyridostigmine. She did fine for 2 months. Now she's back to having trouble walking and having to rest a lot. She also started to regurgitate more than normal. So, now she's back on her meds. I guess my question is, is it normal for them to have a relapse so quickly and I'm wondering if she really did go into remission or not?

  2. Your DVM should know about the test conducted at UCSD. It can determine remission for your dog. Remission does not necessarily mean the end as MG can rear it's ugly head at anytime again.

  3. Does anyone have any further explanation about what remission means? How often dogs go into full remission and then have it occur again? Or what exactly remission means and prognosis and practices after remission has been confirmed? I can't find any articles or info on this

  4. My 8 y/o lab was diagnosed with acquired MG and ME...if he goes into MG remission, will his ME go away as well?

  6. I had myasthenia gravis since 2015. I got medically discharged out of the Army, a job I loved well. My heart had 5 myasthenic crises, 3 being severe enough to be ventilated or require CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) helmet. I have had countless plasma exchanges as my veins are bad. I also needed Hickman lines inserted. I have been on azathioprine, mycophenolate (CellCept), methotrexate and none have worked. I'm currently done with my herbal remedy I purchase from totalcureherbsfoundation .com which has totally cured my condition with a surprise after almost four months of their usage, I was discouraged and never thought I would be myasthenia gravis (MG) free ,to me the best to get rid of this condition is totalcureherbsfoundation com treatment because all medications I used never worked include mycophenolate (CellCept)
